Owen Boyce
Hey there!
What’s your name?
I’m Owen.
I am the grown-up version of a child who choreographed dances on coffee tables, threw Survivor-themed birthday parties, and never learned how to tie his shoes with just one bunny ear.
My father is an Oxford-raised, proper Brit and my mother’s family is from Buenos Aires, but as their child I earned the most interesting birthplace of the three: New Jersey.
As I was growing up, I discovered a profound love, maybe even need, for the arts. From looking forward to Hairspray Jr. rehearsals to get me through an anxiety-filled sixth grade day, to rewatching Ghostbusters to cope with my favorite character dying in a YouTube show, to binging Parks & Recreation to distract myself from existential crises… I have learned that I need to be around art as much as possible.
Cut to today: I’m making sure that I am! Studying at NYU Tisch in the Experimental Theater Wing and Atlantic Acting School, I’ve learned techniques of Practical Aesthetics, Jerzy Grotowski, and contact improvisation.
And outside of school, I’ve learned that I love sketch comedy by being in NYU’s legacy sketch group, Hammerkatz, that I love reading modern plays and performing in new work, and that I need to start prepping meals more.
Whether it be an awkward and sweaty Polonius in Hamlet or a naïve and vulnerable Gunman in Odets’s Waiting for Lefty, I am dedicated to delving deep into the world of my character so they become Owen-ified, while still honoring the work of the writer.
Though I am committed to making a latte at home these days… I can simply never resist a coffee chat! Reach out!
